Kerala Style Grilled Fish (Meen Pollichathu)
Ingredients
For Kerala Grilled Fish
- 1 medium Sea Bass Fish (scored)
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- Banana Leaves
For Masala
- 1 Onion (chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic (chopped)
- 1cm Ginger (chopped)
- 1 Tomato (chopped)
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Chilly Powder
- ½ Black Pepper
- 1 tsp Mango Powder
- Coconut Oil and Salt
Garnishing
- Tomato, Onions, Coriander
Preparation
- Score the Fish by cutting into the flesh.
- Marinade the Fish with Turmeric and Coriander Powder for 30 mins.
- Prepare the Masala. Heat Coconut Oil, fry the Garlic, Ginger and Onions until translucent.
- Add the Tomato, Curry Leaves, and the Spice Powders. Turmeric, Coriander, Chilly, Black Pepper and Mango Powder.
- Fry until soft. Season with Salt until extra salty.
- Prepare Banana Leaves by heating over gas.
- Layer some Masala at the bottom. Place Fish on top. Then layer the balance Masala over the Fish.
- Grill for 10 minutes on each side, covered.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
