Kerala Kalathappam
Ingredients
For Kalathappam
- 1 cup raw White Rice (soaked)
- ½ cup grated Coconut
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds (roasted)
- 1 pinch Turmeric powder
- Salt
- Coconut oil
Preparation
- Soak the White Rice for at least 2-3 hours.
- Place the raw White Rice, grated Coconut, ½ the Onion, Turmeric Powder and Salt into the Grinder/Blender. Blend until smooth.
- This should give a thick batter.
- Add back the Fennel seeds and mix.
- Heat non-stick pan, and add 4-5 Tbs Coconut Oil.
- Fry the balance Onions.
- Add, and fry the batter for 10 minutes on each side in low flame until crispy.
- Cut into wedges
- Serve hot and enjoy!
