Thai Sticky Rice with Durian (Khao Niao Thurian)

 


One of my favorite Thai dessert, because Durian is one of my favorite fruits. Fairly simple dish, with only a few ingredients. Once completed, it's a delicious, sticky, sweet, fragrant dessert. For durian lovers, this is an amazing dish.

Ingredients
1 cup sticky rice
2 cups coconut milk
3 Tbs sugar
2-3 pieces durian
1 pinch salt

Preparation
1. Soak the sticky rice for 2-3 hours
2. Steam the sticky rice in a steamer for about 20 minutes.
3. Bring the Coconut milk to a boil. Add in Sugar and Salt. 
4. Divide the coconut milk into 2, keep warm
5. In a container, put in the hot steaming sticky rice and immediately add half the hot coconut milk. Let it absorb the coconut milk for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
6. In the same pot, bring the coconut milk to a boil and add the durian flesh. Let it boil, and keep warm.
7. Place the sticky rice in a bowl
8. Top with the coconut milk and durian
9. Serve hot or cold.
