Mi Goreng Mamak - Delicious spicy Malaysian fried yellow noodles

Malaysian Mi Goreng Mamak - Delicious and spicy local Indian Muslim fried yellow noodles. One of our favorite dishes whenever we visit an Indian Muslim shop in Malaysia. You can easily make this at home.

Recipe

Ingredients:
1/2 onion sliced
2cm fish cake sliced (can be ommited for vegetarian option)
2 stalks mustard greens (sawi)
1/2 tomato sliced
1/2 packet yellow noodles (wash if needed)
2 Tbs curry powder
1 Tbs spicy chili sauce
1 Tbs tomato sauce
1 Tbs dark soy sauce
Salt to taste

For onion fritters:
1/2 onion sliced
1/2 cup flour
1 Tbs curry powder
Salt

Preparation
1. Mix the onion fritter ingredients into a thick batter
2. Fry the onion fritters and keep aside
3. Heat 2-3 Tbs oil in wok, and fry the onions for 2 minutes and add in fish cake, fry 1 extra minute.
4. Add in the curry powder and fry for 30 seconds
5. Add in the chili, tomato, dark soy sauce, and fry for 30 seconds
6. Add in the mustard greens and tomato and fry for 2 minutes
7. Add in the yellow noodles and fry for 3 minutes. Add a splash of water if needed.
8. Fry until dry. Then mix in the chopped onion fritters.
9. Serve with extra chili sauce and a slice of lime
